American rapper, singer, and songwriter Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, better known by his stage name YoungBoy Never Broke Again (or just YoungBoy), is a member of the NBA YoungBoy cast. With a peak position of number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, his song “Outside Today” is his most well-known work.

When YoungBoy was a toddler, he fractured his neck while wrestling, necessitating the use of a head brace while his spine recovered. His forehead was scarred by the brace. YoungBoy’s father received a 55-year prison sentence, therefore his maternal grandma reared him primarily. After telling his mother he wanted to concentrate on his music career and dropping out of ninth school, he was shortly caught for robbery and taken to a prison facility in Tallulah, Louisiana. It was then that he started penning the lyrics for his first song.

Following his release from the correctional facility, Gaulden moved in with NBA 3Three, a fellow rapper from Baton Rouge, following the death of his grandmother from heart failure. The two then started paying for studio time by committing crimes.

At the age of fourteen, YoungBoy started making music with a microphone he purchased from Walmart. In 2015, he dropped his debut mixtape, Life Before Fame. Then came a series of other mixtapes, such as Before I Go, Mind of a Menace 2, and Mind of a Menace. With his October 2016 mixtape 38 Baby, which included artists Stroke Tha Don and NBA 3Three along with fellow Baton Rouge natives Boosie Badazz and Kevin Gates, YoungBoy gained notoriety. On November 7, 2016, a week later, YoungBoy dropped another mixtape called Mind of a Menace 3. YoungBoy’s “song-for-song rap beef” with fellow Baton Rouge rapper Scotty Cain in December 2015, in which both rappers’ tracks contained death threats, may also have contributed to his meteoric climb to fame. The two rappers from Baton Rouge never really got into physical altercations, but their rivalry garnered a lot of media attention.

YoungBoy was detained in Austin, Texas in December 2016 on charges of attempting first-degree murder in relation to a reported drive-by gunshot. Before I Go: Reloaded and Mind of a Menace 3: were two mixtapes that YoungBoy released when he was incarcerated in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. Reloaded features the songs “Too Much,” “Don’t Matter,” and “Win or Lose.” May 2017 saw YoungBoy’s release from prison following the acceptance of a plea bargain and payment of bail. YoungBoy released the song “Untouchable” a week after being freed from prison.

YoungBoy debuted a music video for “41” in July 2017; the video featured guest appearances from Meek Mill, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Yo Gotti, and Boosie Badazz. His mixtape, A.I. YoungBoy, was released on August 3, 2017, and it debuted at number 24 on the Billboard 200. “Untouchable” reached its highest position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at position 95. “No Smoke,” AI YoungBoy’s second single, reached its highest position on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 61. YoungBoy revealed the A.I. YoungBoy tour in August of 2017.

In January 2018, YoungBoy revealed his first studio album, Until Death Call My Name. 2018 saw the album’s release on April 27. On January 6, 2018, he released the track “Outside Today”. The song peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Gaulden’s highest charting hit. Gaulden declared he would release a new mixtape in February 2018, despite being imprisoned.

YoungBoy was detained by U.S. Marshals in November 2016 ahead of a concert in Austin, Texas, on charges that he had broken out of a car and opened fire on a crowd of people on a South Baton Rouge street. YoungBoy was accused of trying to kill someone twice. YoungBoy was imprisoned for an attempted first-degree murder from December 2016 to August 2017. “I don’t think they really target, but if you got a name, they know who you are, you do something, they gonna come get you, and whoever you’re with and whatever they do, you’re accountable for it just because you got the biggest name,” he remarked in reference to his imprisonment. That’s how things work like that.[26] YoungBoy was sentenced to three years of active probation and a suspended 10-year jail term on August 23, 2017, by a Baton Rouge judge, for his role in a drive-by shooting.

On February 25, 2018, YoungBoy was taken into custody prior to a performance at Tallahassee’s The Moon nightclub. Georgia issued a warrant for YoungBoy’s arrest on charges of assault, firearms offenses, and kidnapping. Shortly after his arrest, hotel security footage of Gaulden abusing his then-girlfriend Jania was leaked.

He was granted $75,000 in bail and was freed from prison on March 15, 2018.

Three moms and three sons make up YoungBoy’s family. Kamiri, Taylin, and Kayden are the names of the kids.
