Avant – Separated

Championed by MCA Records in 2000 as “the new voice of ghetto soul,” Avant has exceeded expectations as a consistent slow jam technician across two full decades. Throughout the 2000s, the mature R&B singer/songwriter put together a streak of five Top Ten R&B/hip-hop albums supported by an equal number of Top 40 pop hits including “Separated” (2000), “Makin’ Good Love” (2002), and “Read Your Mind” (2003). After a subsequent short phase with Verve, Avant returned to the R&B/hip-hop Top Ten as an independent artist with Face the Music (2013) and The VIII (2015). He has since remained committed to soul-rooted contemporary R&B with Can We Fall in Love (2020).
