Reflective. gifted. composer of songs. The Atlanta musician Deante’ Hitchcock, who is nominated for a Grammy, may be summed up in these few words. Deante’ felt that rap was his only choice after leaving Georgia Southern University, so he put in more effort than ever to release mixtapes and videos that generated a lot of hype. His humorous, endearing social media freestyle videos attracted notice, which allowed him to open for artists like Yo Gotti and Lil Uzi Vert. Eventually, this led to a recording contract with ByStorm Entertainment, owned by Mark Pitts.

After releasing a number of strong EPs (Good, So Much for Good Luck, Just A Sample, Just A Sample 2), Deante’s 2019 LP Revenge Of The Dreamers III—which is now certified Platinum by the RIAA—snapped a highly sought-after slot on the Grammy-nominated J. Cole & Dreamville compilation album. In 2020, ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records published his debut album BETTER, which included collaborations with JID, Young Nudy, Miguel, and St. Beauty, as well as the single “How TF” featuring 6LACK. Later that year, Deante followed up with the deluxe version of BETTER, which included guest appearances by Guapdad 4000, Kenny Mason, Ro James, and other artists. The project received critical acclaim and was included in Complex, NPR, XXL, and UPROXX’s “Best of 2020” list. It also cemented Deante’s status as a must-watch artist in the emerging Southern rap movement.
