Sy Ari da Kid, born Sy Ari Brockington, is a prolific Atlanta-based singer/rapper and producer whose music seamlessly blends trap and smooth, Auto-Tune-laced R&B. His tense, dramatic songs frequently reflect on relationships, heartbreak, and other personal issues.

Born Sy Ari Brockington, Sy Ari da Kid is a well-known singer, rapper, and producer from Atlanta whose sound skillfully combines silky, Auto-Tuned R&B with trap music. His tense, dramatic compositions usually address current events, the hardships of street life, relationships, heartbreak, and other personal themes. Beginning with The Ultrasound in 2011, Brockington released more than a dozen works over that decade, such as B4 the Heartbreak in 2016 and Emancipation Proclamation in 2019. With full-length albums like A Toxic Heartbreak and Alone But Not Lonely, he has continued to produce work of an equally prolific kind in the 2020s.

Although Brockington was born and raised in the Bronx, he moved to Atlanta when he was nine years old. He does not like to have his music classified as New York or Southern rap. His brother and cousin encouraged him to start rapping when he was very young. He rose to fame as a battle rapper on Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 FM hip-hop radio station after graduating from high school. Self-taught producer, he co-founded the Arrogant Music label in 2006 and started using Pro Tools for song recording. In 2011, he started putting out mixtapes and worked with many musicians, such as Future, Timbaland, Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane, and former classmate K Camp. After working with Drake co-writer Quentin Miller, Brockington refuted rumors that he had ghostwritten songs for Drake in 2015. The rumors first surfaced in 2015. The song “Priorities,” which was a collaboration between Brockington and trap-soul singer Bryson Tiller, was featured on his 2016 mixtape B4 the Heartbreak, and it helped him gain more recognition from R&B listeners.

It was revealed in 2017 that Brockington had signed a contract with Cash Money. Despite appearing as a guest on “It’s Calm,” a song by label CEO Birdman, he kept releasing his music on his own, with Cinq Music Group providing distribution. By the end of 2018, a number of projects, including Better Safe Than Sy Ari, 2 Weeks No Diss, and 2 Soon, were released. He released two albums the next year: After the Heartbreak, which included Eric Bellinger and Asiahn, and Emancipation Proclamation. In 2020 and 2021, Brockington released a number of titles that were part of his hectic schedule. These included It Was Unwritten, A Toxic Heartbreak, It’s Not You It’s Me, and Sy Ari Not Sorry.
